A Corporate MC
"I kind of put myself out there, and got into situations that made me a little bit uncomfortable, because that's really how you grow."
This week on the Moonlighters' Club, Joel talks to Stephond Goler, who works in sales at a Boston-based technology company for a living but pursues his passion for rapping as sur5ILL after hours.
Born and bred in Boston, he got his start performing with a band of friends he met at work. By 2013, he was booking solo shows, and hasn't stopped perfecting his next set.
With the support of his wife, Stephond is able to maintain a busy work ethic from 9-5 and slowly build a steady following as sur5ILL. While he admits it can be difficult to balance a full-time job and focus on a side gig, he said that he's able to use his creativity to his advantage and find the time to get it all done.
His trick? No sleep. It's what he calls a "seven day adventure."
