Two of my Uncles were in the military. My grandfather was a Cambridge Police Officer, so we had a lot of structure growing up. You throw that in with my Haitian pops and it was like, “You better have a direction in life - what’s your purpose? Are you just gonna sit here or be on the streets, or are you gonna have a family, a house and try to do better than the person that came before you?” That was pretty much the hustle growing up
